The Nomadic Salon
Before the arrival of public museums most collections were shown in the privacy of homes. Global exploration and colonization provided the means to fill these rooms, which were meant not only to reflect the personality of the individual collector, but also to distill the world into an ordered microcosm through acquisition and ownership.
The work here which encompasses various aspects of my identity, is a microcosm of my own artistic practice. My efforts at distilling the pluralism and multi-cultural aspects of my life result in what I paint through the expression of form; an orientalist trying to make sense of the East, and an occidentalist re-examining the West.
