State of Suspension

There’s a feeling I get on a trampoline at the top of the jump right before I’m about to come down. There’s a state of suspension where everything feels still and peaceful full of possibilities and every painting and every performance that I do is an attempt to describe that feeling that state of suspension.

I the ideas from a surfing a hypnogogic state. The state between between awake and asleep.

Ideas come to me in a bathtub, a hammock, a paddle board. Spaces where you are drifting in and out of consciousness.

It’s a place I go to to inform the more mystical aspects of my art. There is a trust in the dream-state that that it’s more rational than my rational mind.
